Aberdeen Blooms 2008 saw the official launch of our heathers with an amazing display which was much admired by members of the public. Despite very low numbers coming through the gates, some useful contacts were made, and the event was a positive one for the team. It was rewarding to see the end result of months of hard work, and experience was gained from answering questions about the heathers and their aftercare.
Chris Collins, the Blue Peter gardener, was most impressed with Solstice’s work, and used our heathers to demonstrate winter hanging baskets.
A Quote From Chris Collins, The Blue Peter Gardener (Left)
‘To many, horticulture is a private hobby; a garden is a personal space which enables us to escape the pace of modern life. To me it has a far more reaching importance. It aids our mental health, beautifies town centres and brings us together as people. The work Solstice undertakes is a demonstration of the importance of horticulture to human beings.’

On 17/09/08, Victoria McCann, Mandie Dickie, and John Reid looked very smart and civilised as they accepted the Grampian Employment Network Diversity Award on behalf of Solstice as second runner up amongst many other Social Firms. Our lovely certificate is now proudly on display outside the Business Manager's office.
